The British Veterinary Poultry Association (BVPA) is delighted to host the 2017 Congress in Edinburgh, kicking off at the world-renowned Edinburgh Castle.

The XXth WVPA Congress aims to host in excess of 1200 participants, including poultry research scientists and practitioners, from over 70 countries joining together to explore the past, share the present and helping to forge the future of poultry veterinary science.

Scientific Content

The programme will open on Monday 4 September with a series of workshops and the exhibition opening ceremony, followed by a welcome reception at historic Edinburgh Castle. The four main congress days will be packed with 32 parallel sessions and 18 keynotes, 3 industry symposia and will finish with a closing ceremony at lunchtime on Friday 8 September.

Welcome Reception at Edinburgh Castle

The iconic and historic Edinburgh Castle will be the location of the Welcome Reception on Monday 4 September. Delegates will have exclusive access to this prestigious venue, which is Scotland’s most visited tourist attraction. Throughout the castle, there are breath-taking views across the city and delegates will enjoy drinks in the heart of the castle, the Crown Square, whilst being surrounded by Scottish Heritage. The highlight of the evening will be a private viewing of the Scottish Crown Jewels; this will truly be a night to remember.

Gala Dinner

The National Museum of Scotland will host the Gala Dinner which will take place on Thursday 7 September. Delegates will dine in the Grand Gallery in the stunning splendour of elegant pillars, staircases and fine Victorian architecture. With fine food and fantastic entertainment, this will be perfect way to celebrate the last night of a successful congress.
